NAIROBI – The number of Kenyan Cabinet secretaries who have stepped aside pending investigations has topped five.

Cabinet Secretary for Lands Charity Ngilu and Labor Secretary Kazungu Kambi have become the latest casualties in the fight against corruption.

The two ministers have “temporarily” left office to allow investigations by the country’s anti-corruption commission.

Also stepping aside is the former power man in the Mwai Kibaki government and Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia.

Ngilu has been linked to a number of land scandals including the multi-million dollar land that was grabbed from Langata Primary School as well as two other properties in Karen and State House Road.

Kazungu has been fighting COTU over two NSSF projects which the workers union claims have been inflated.
