NAIROBI, Kenya-What do Kenyans think of their Deputy President, who is eying the highest office in the land in 2022, campaigning with Museveni?

This is the man who wants Kenyans to believe he represents the future, yet he troops around with the exact opposite of that future, Uganda’s 30 year dictator, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Museveni, and everyone associated with him, should be rejected by all progressive Africans, from Cairo to Johannesburg.

He represents everything about the past that the people cannot stand, and would like to forget.

The man has been sitting on power, arresting and jailing all opposition politicians, since 1986!

His perennial nemesis, and former personal physician, Dr. Kizza Besigye, is today under arrest for committing the crime of exercising his democratic right to vie for Uganda’s presidency.

Incredible.

Anyone considering to vote for Ruto in 2022, if he survives the hypocrisy of Mr. Kenyatta and his handlers, has already seen the future of Kenya.

We are referring to Uganda under Museveni and Zimbabwe under Mugabe.

Here are three things we believe.

First, Mr. Ruto may have reached the end of the road when he was sworn in as Acting President when Mr. Kenyatta “resigned” to go to The Hague.

Second, Mr. Ruto has no idea why Kenyans overwhelmingly voted for the 2010 constitution. Why?

Because the mission and purpose of the new law, in a word, is decentralization.

The goal was to destroy the imperial presidency and the entire mystique that has surrounded it since Kenyatta senior.

It must take a man of rather limited imagination to continue to scare Kenyans with such detestable and abhorrent phrases as being “in the government.”

When the constitution was promulgated in 2010, Kenyans hoped that with it they had slain the monster of dictatorship, which required people to worship at the altar of the president, by paying homage to him at his Gatundu home, Kabarak home, or wherever he lives.

The people of Kenya meant to destroy a centralized system of dictatorship, represented by an imperial presidency, and distribute power in 47 different locations, under constitutionally elected County Chief Executives.

Third, we believe that if Mr. Ruto wants power in 2022, he must be seen to be more respectful of Kenyans, and stop insulting their intelligence.

To hang out with Museveni, threaten and play psychological mind games with the people of Central Kenya, including his own Kalenjin community, is to give the people of Kenya less credit than they deserve.
